World Meteorological Organization visit the Open Quantum Institute

16th June 2025

Recently, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) visited OQI to learn more about our SDG-focused use cases.

During discussions with Alex Bernasconi (OQI Applications Project Manager) and James Wilson (OQI Partnerships and Engagement Intern), they gained further insights into our pipeline of developing use cases aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to develop quantum algorithms for tackling real-world challenges.

Martin Gastal (OQI Capacity Building and Partnerships Lead) also gave an overview of CERN and explored OQI’s other activities – including our capacity building efforts of organising hackathons, the Quantum Diplomacy Game being played across multiple continents, and a growing repository of educational tools.
