Celebrating OQI’s journey and collective achievements

19th October 2026

The OQI workshop at the GESDA Summit 2026 was an ocassion to bring the OQI community together in Geneva – a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, celebrate what we’ve achieved together, and look ahead to what’s next.

And what a journey it has been!

From exploring how quantum computing can help address the UN Sustainable Development Goals to expanding access to quantum resources and building capacity around the world, the past three years have shown what is possible when people from different disciplines, sectors and regions come together around a shared mission.

A few highlights of our collective journey:
– Explored 20 quantum computing use case projects addressing 6 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
– Brought together more than 1,000 hackathon participants from 108 countries, helping make quantum computing more accessible.
– Built an Educational Consortium of 94 organisations across 39 countries.
– Engaged 54 international organisations in scientific and diplomatic discussions on quantum governance.

Beyond these numbers, one of OQI’s greatest achievements is the global community we’ve built — bringing together scientists, educators, industry leaders, policymakers and changemakers, united by a shared ambition to make quantum computing more accessible, inclusive and beneficial to humanity.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed their expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to making this journey possible.
