On 5th June, Martin Gastal (OQI Capacity Building and Partnerships Lead) participated in DIGIT Expo West in Glasgow, gathering technology specialists, digital leaders, and entrepreneurs to explore key themes from AI, digital leadership and data innovation.
Martin opened with an introduction to the innovation happening at CERN, emphasising the focus on international scientific cooperation. Following this, he showcased the work we are doing at OQI, hosted at CERN during the pilot phase and how we are reflecting CERN’s principles of openness and collaboration as we work towards ensuring that quantum computing is developed for the benefit of society.
Through our multistakeholder approach, collaborating with quantum scientists, subject-matter experts, SDG stakeholders, UN organisations, NGOs and the diplomatic community, we are working to broaden access to quantum computers through industry partnerships and advance capacity building to anticipate the impact of the developing technology.
Martin also outlined some of OQI’s core capacity building activities, including hackathons and the Quantum Diplomacy Game taking place around the world alongside building a repository of open-source educational materials to be made available worldwide.
