Open Quantum Institute at GESDA Summit and Swiss Quantum Week

Swiss Quantum Week will take place 13 – 19 October 2025, bringing together multiple stakeholders – such as academia, industry, policymakers and the general public – to celebrate quantum advancements in Switzerland and grow the Swiss and global quantum ecosystems as part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025.
Throughout the week, a range of events and activities will take place, including the GESDA Summit held 15-17 October. During the Summit, the OQI community will gather for its annual meeting, with a series of workshops centered around OQI’s main activities:
Wednesday 15 October 08:30 – 10:30: OQI Use Case Workshop (invitation only)
OQI use case teams will present their progress and share best practices on applying quantum approaches to address complex computational problems aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Wednesday 15 October 11:00-12:30: OQI Methodology Workshop (invitation only)
National and regional quantum hubs as well as leading international quantum institutions will discuss methodologies for developing use cases with societal benefit. There will also be an exchange of insights and lessons learned on how these efforts support the development and growth of quantum ecosystems.
Wednesday 15 October (am, time tbc): OQI Capacity Building Workshop (invitation only)
This workshop will be the opportunity to discuss OQI’s Capacity Building activities and the progress and feedback so far – including our growing repository of educational materials, global hackathons and the Quantum Diplomacy Game throughout 2025 and the International Year of Quantum (IYQ). The workshop will also provide a platform for OQI’s capacity building community to explore new ideas and activities that could be implemented in 2026.
