On 10th June, Catherine Lefebvre, Applications Lead and Senior Advisor at OQI, participated in a panel on quantum policy as part of the launch event for the new series, Quantum Commons, organised by Swissnex in Boston and New York. In collaboration with Pasqal, QuEra Computing Inc. and other quantum experts in the Boston area, the event brought together the quantum community to explore the role of governments in shaping the quantum ecosystem.
Catherine was joined on the panel by Constanza Bustamante (Centre for a New American Security – CNAS) and moderator Michelle Lampa (Pasqal). Together, they examined the intersection of quantum technology and public policy, addressing how governments and policymakers can, and should, get involved in accelerating the quantum revolution.
Discussions centered around quantum policy and the role of government across local, national and multilateral levels. In particular, the need for global collaboration was stressed, with OQI showcased as an example through some of our global activities such as:
- Developing quantum computing applications for humanity.
- Providing global access through public private partnerships.
- Building capacity and supporting a global talent pipeline.
- Promoting the multilateral governance of quantum computing.
At OQI, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with Swissnex in Boston and New York at upcoming events!
