On 2nd December, the Trust Valley Day 2025 brought together policymakers, academics, investors and entrepreneurs to celebrate five years of Trust Valley and to share insights on how to co-shape the future of digital trust.
At OQI, we are proud to be collaborating with Trust Valley in developing quantum computing use cases that address real-world challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Throughout the day, the team engaged with many different stakeholders to discuss our ongoing efforts towards ensuring that the technology is developed in an inclusive and equitable way.
OQI also contributed to the panel discussion “Beyond AI: How to Prepare for Quantum Computing?” where panellists explored the evolving quantum landscape and discussed how to prepare for the responsible governance of the technology. This panel brought together members of the OQI team and community, including Philipp Kammerlander (Advisor at OQI ), Marieke Hood (OQI Advisory Committee Co-Chair) and Philippe Caroff (Executive Director at QSE, EPFL, and OQI Educational Consortium Member). Other panellists included Grégoire Ribordy (CEO at IDQ) and Silvan Schellenberg (CISO Switzerland at UBS).
During the discussion, Marieke highlighted the inception of OQI by GESDA and outlined how OQI represents a model for international collaboration, advancing quantum computing for the benefit of society while considering both the opportunities and risks. Discussions moved from the promise of quantum computing to its applications, with Philipp sharing examples of OQI use cases currently being developed, including drug discovery, medical diagnostics and food security.
Panellists also reflected on the growing interest in global quantum collaboration, identifying Geneva as an international hub connecting academia, investors and policymakers, with agreement on the need for neutral platforms, such as OQI, to foster international collaboration and support the inclusive development of the technology.
At OQI, we look forward to continuing collaborations with Trust Valley to advance quantum computing use cases that contribute to accelerating the achievement of the SDGs!
