Quantum Science and Technologies for All: Join the inauguration of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology in Geneva

Over the past century, quantum science has challenged the foundations of classical physics and developed our understanding of the universe. As we reflect on 100 years since the invention of quantum mechanics, we must also look ahead to the potential of quantum technology in the future. The proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQST) called for the global community to come together to explore the transformative impact of the technology, raise public awareness and explore the future challenges and opportunities.
Following the Opening Ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, international Geneva will gather on 21 February 2025 to celebrate the launch of the IYQ and explore the development of quantum technology for the benefit of all. Bringing together scientists, policy makers, diplomats, industry and education leaders, the event will emphasise the importance of science diplomacy and international collaboration.
As a partner of the IYQ, OQI is joining with UNESCO to mark the start of an exciting year ahead. Aligning strongly with the mission of UNESCO and the IYQ, at OQI we are aiming to facilitate equal access to emerging technologies—through accelerating the potential of quantum computing for all of society, and developing educational tools and advancing capacity building to enable everyone around the world to contribute to, and benefit from, the advancement of quantum computing applications.
The IYQ inauguration in Geneva will continue to drive international cooperation in the advancement of sustainable quantum technology development for the benefit of society. With a dynamic agenda of keynotes addresses, panel discussions involving the diplomatic and scientific community and musical interludes, we invite you to join us in celebrating the start of an exciting year ahead!
