OQI partners with the International Year of Quantum
29 November 2024
OQI has proudly joined the International Year of Quantum (IYQ) as a participating partner—emphasising our commitment to shaping the future of quantum technology.
On 7 June 2024, UNESCO proclaimed 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQST), marking 100 years since the birth of quantum mechanics. At OQI, we are delighted to add our support to the IYQ’s mission and make dynamic contributions—through our representation on the IYQ Steering Committee, curating a global programme of events and activities throughout 2025, and now as an official partner of the initiative.
Across the core activities of OQI, we are strongly aligning with the IYQ to strengthen national capacities in science education, by developing educational tools to enable everyone around the world to contribute to and benefit from the technology, and developing quantum solutions to accelerate the UN’s SDGs. At OQI, we are preparing a dynamic programme of events throughout 2025—from hackathons and hosting of the Quantum Diplomacy Game across various continents, to alignment with the activities of the CERN Quantum Technology Initiative (QTI) and CERN’s public event programme on the theme of quantum.
More information on the IYQ can be found here. Stay tuned to find out more about what we have planned for 2025 during the IYQ and beyond, and how you can get involved!
